A Fun Night at the Wild Olive

bacon wrapped jalepenos appetizer wild olive restaurant crestview flSo we enjoyed a lovely evening at the Wild Olive in Crestview, FL. We went with a group of friends, and spent the whole evening laughing and eating. And in my opinion, that’s the best way to spend an evening!

We started off with a couple of delicious appetizers. My absolute favorite was the bacon wrapped jalepenos! I have had these before at a tailgating party, but they pale in comparison to the Wild Olive’s version! They were perfect with just enough heat. Loved ‘em! We also had an order of tempura-fried zucchini. These were also good, though in my opinion, they could have used a little more seasoning. Of course it could have been the pairing of the two apps!

Next came our salads. I ordered a caesar, and I must admit that I was quite disappointed. It tasted a lot like the caesar salad kits that you can buy at any grocery store. Don’t get me wrong, I myself use these easy fix salads from time to time, but when I’m going to a nice restaurant I would prefer something a little more sophisticated. The worst part of all was that the salad was overly dressed, which made the lettuce soggy. I didn’t even finish mine, becasue it was so bad.

Grouper entree wild olive crestview flOur entrees were an improvement. I ordered the shrimp tuscana. It was good, though not amazing. It had rigatoni pasta in a garlic cream sauce with sundried tomatoes, scallions, and shrimp. The menu said it also included asparagus, but I couldn’t find any in my dish which was a disappointment. My husband ordered the pepper-crusted ribeye, and I must say it was AWESOME! The steak was so tender and juicy. It could literally be cut with a fork. The best entree was our friend Ryan’s. He ordered the grouper. Now let me tell you, I’m not a big fish eater, but this was so good, I wanted to steal Ryan’s plate!

We ended with dessert, and it was a perfect ending to our evening. My husband, David, had their chocolate mousse cake. (I have him trained to always get chocolate, so he can share it with me!) It was scrumptous. We also tried the creme brulee, red velvet cake, and key lime pie. I don’t even like key lime pie, but theirs was wonderful. I think I might even order my own slice next time. Are you curious about what I ordered for dessert? It’s silly, but I got spumoni ice cream. I love spumoni (for those of you who don’t know what spumoni is, it’s an Italian ice cream similar to neopolitan, except the three flavors are chocolate, cherry, and pistacio), but I haven’t had it in 4 years, because I can’t find it in our area. So I was thrilled when I saw it on the menu.

Overall we had a wonderful night at the Wild Olive, and I look forward to having many more. One of the best parts of our evening was our server. He was great. I never ran out of lemonade. Unfortunately, it was his last night there. He’s moving to Vermont to wait tables at a ski resort up there. I wish him all the luck.

So for those of you who live in Northwest Florida, or even if you’re just visiting, take the time to visit The Wild Olive. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time there. You can also read the Crestview News Bulletin’s write up on this new restaurant here. Click below to see larger photos.

TWO is one of our favorite places in Crestview. We’ve been frequent customers since it first opened and are thrilled that they now offer lunch Tuesday-Friday. I suggest the fillet - you’ll not find a more tender steak in all of Crestview!

I agree. The Grouper at The Wild Olive is excellent. We will definitely return, especially if we have Meagan as our server again, she was excellent.

I went a few weeks ago and was unimpressed with their fetuccino alfredo. I heard good feedback about their seafood & fish from those that sat with me. Next time I think I will try the seafood, I’m not a big fan of alfredo when it tastes worse than anything I’ve made at home.

Awesome. We live in Dothan, AL and have gone to Crestview twice just to eat at The Wild Olive. The ambience was great and the food outstanding. We plan to go often just as a special night out.

Had lunch today at the Wild Olive. What a pleasant surprise. We only had soup and 1/2 sandwich, but the soup (corn and Shrimp) was delicious and the sandwich (sausage) was great. Crestview is lucky to have such a fine eatery. (Wish it would have opened here in Niceville instead).

Amanda, I must agree with you about the alfredo. My husband had it on our 2nd visit, and we were very disappointed. It was quite awful. The seafood and fish is amazing, but their pasta dishes leave much to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend the pasta to anyone, but you absolutely can’t go wrong with any of the fish dishes.

Thanks for the review. My husband and I were considering TWO for dinner tonight. Now it’s a definite!

BTW you can get spumoni at Mom and Dad’s in DFS.

Ray and Mary Beth from Pensacola visited with us last week and we enjoyed lunch at The Wild Olive. They were impressed with the food, the building decor and
friendliness. Crestview deserves the best, and it is the finest at The Wild
    Olive!

We LOVE eating at The Wild Olive! They have the BEST Filet Mignon steaks that we have EVER tasted in our lives! So tender, just like cutting into silk and it just melts away in your mouth. YUMMM…VERY GOOD! The Wild Olive is the BEST place to eat here in Crestview. Crestview really needed an awesome restaurant like this. The Wild Olive by far blows away every other restaurant around here, including Destin, Ft Walton Beach, Niceville, etc. We will always eat at The Wild Olive from now on when we want to eat Filet Mignon or anything else. Their veggies that come with the entrees are delicious! The bread and dipping sauce is the BEST! Not to mention, their awesome desserts! We LOVE this place! :-) Very HIGHLY recommended! Two thumbs up! Our waitress Patti was an excellent server. She took very good care of us. We will definitely request her every time from now on. :-)

Fresh food and fresh air to Crestview! It’s nice to have some fine dining here in Crestview with a great atmosphere, great wait staff, and a great chef! I always look forward to trying new dishes at The Wild Olive. I highly recommend the Mahi sandwich, the Pearl Street Grouper, and the Sword Fish. They are all awesome!

Amazing. I’ll subscribe on your RSS. Do you want to write more about it?

We had a birthday party at the Wild Olive last night and were extremely disappointed with the food. The crab cakes were missing CRAB, and were all cake, not to mention they were very greasy. Same for the zucchini, heavy breading and very greasy. My Filet was supposed to me medium well, but was butterflied and was over done, close to charcoal. To top it off, it took 2.5 hours for dinner, and no wine available.

Would love to see them improve, but until then, will continue to head to Destin for quality restaurants.

T.W.O. has the best food. We love eveything they have. It’s a must try!
