Mother daughter flying kite after the detox is overFirst of all, I’m sorry for the delay on the last few posts. I’ve been having problems with wordpress. It seems like every time I try to post an article, the site freezes up; I get frustrated, and then I give up. So for those of you who’ve been looking for the latest installments in my detox saga, I apologize for making you wait.

Now back to the matter at hand! Yesterday was my first detox-free day. I still did pretty well…in the beginning at least. I had a small waffle with a little pure maple syrup and non-trans fat margarine, about a tablespoon of grits, and 1 scrambled egg. I have to admit, I was celebrating a little bit. I found that a few hours later, I felt kind of nauseated. So for lunch I just had some mango and a couple of graham crackers with organic peanut butter. I still had a queasy feeling in my stomach, but not too badly.

But last night! Oh last night, how I wish I could go back and do it all over again! Last night was my dear friends’ 30th birthday party. It was a pajama party, and boy did we every party! Like any good girly get together there was food. Lots and lots of deliciously bad for me food! Brownies, cookies, cupcakes, pizza, chips, dip, salsa, candy, soda, alcohol, you name it and it was there. And it had been SOOOO long since I’d had any wonderfully unhealthy food, so I can’t exactly say that I used the best judgment.

And this morning?! I want to die! I have the worst hangover, and the funny part is that I didn’t drink anything but water! My hangover is from food–sinfully bad food. I feel so dirty and ashamed. All that work of eating diligently healthy and depriving myself, and I blew it all in one chocolate feeding frenzy of a night.

Today, I can tell you I will not be eating a bit of sugar. The very thought makes me want to throw up. The best part of the detox was the wonderful way it made me feel, and now I’ve lost that lovely feeling! I think I’m going to need a few days to recuperate.

And most importantly, my new motto is “All yummy things in moderation!”
