Boo! Rah! A different kind of review!
So I’m always trying to find reviews before I go to a new restaurant. I don’t know about you but I hate wasting my time and money going to a lousy restaurant. So I thought it was pretty cool when I found this site called boorah.com. It gives restaurant patrons a chance to sound off on their experiences in a unique way.
Most review sites just have short 1 to 2 paragraphs descriptions written by real people who have eaten at the restaurant. Boorah.com is a little different. People can leave a typical review here, but they can also vote to give a restaurant a positive review a Rah, or a not-so-positive one–a Boo! It’s a quick an easy way to voice your opinion, when you don’t have time to sit down and write out a lengthy review.
I found that this site would be wonderful if you’re planning a trip to a large city like New York, San Francisco, or Chicago. It has a huge list of restaurants. It not only informs you of diners’ experiences at each restaurant, but it also gives contact information, a brief description of the restaurant and cuisine, price ranges, and menu links. One of the first things I do when I’m planning a trip, is look for great restaurants to eat at. I swear I could visit New York once a year for the rest of my life and still try a new restaurant every day of my visit. This site is perfect for this!
One draw back I found was that it wasn’t as helpful for smaller cities, like the one where I live. When I searched the site for restaurants in my hometown, I found about 73 different restaurants listed. This surprised me, because I had no clue we had that many restaurants. But when I started reading the list, I found that many of the restaurants are now closed. The site gave a pretty comprehensive list of the restaurants here, but it only had contact information for most of them. Very few reviews were left for the restaurants. Of course this really isn’t the fault of the good people running boorah.com, because obviously the reviews are supposed to be generated by local restaurant patrons. Well, I guess the people around here haven’t been leaving too many reviews!
If customer service plays a bit roll in whether you have a pleasant dining experience, then this site would be great for you. I found that most reviews written addressed customer service, sometimes more than the quality of the food. I think a few people used at as an outlet to relieve the stress of dealing with a lousy waitress, a snotty cashier, or worst yet consistently slow service.
So the next time you’re planning a trip, and you want to find a great restaurant to dine at, check out this site. I know it will give you lots to choose from. Or the next time you feeling like praising or venting about a restaurant, cast your own boos or rahs!

Another reason to go to restaurants is go places that have both good reviews AND promotions. I check Metroseeq before I go out to eat now. They have yelp reviews AND discounts there. Best local search I’ve seen in a looong time.
