I know it’s been quite some time since my last blog entry. But I promise you all that I have a very legitimate reason for my break. So I guess you could say this is kind of a catch up story, and it’s also a look to the upcoming year.

The last three months have been incredibly crazy for David, my husband, and me. We have been seeking adoption of two wonderful boys that were in foster care. We first made contact with them at the beginning of October, and they have now been living with us for a week! The boys lived about seven and half hours away, so we’ve spent every other weekend for the last couple of months going to see them so that we could start building relationships.

They are not ours legally yet. There’s a 90 day waiting period, so they should officially and legally be our children by the end of March. But they are now and will forever more be ours in love. The oldest of the two is 14 and the youngest turned 5 a couple of weeks ago. So we are now the proud parents of 4 beautiful children. Oldest to youngest, we have Cameron, Nathan, Marcus and Elora.

The emotional and physical roller coaster of traveling, hotel rooms, court hearings, social workers, paper work, and so much more has been so overwhelming that I just haven’t had anything left to put into my blogging. So I hope you’ll forgive my absence, and continue to visit my site. I am really looking forward to the new year and sharing more of my life through food.

Here’s what you can look forward to. I’ve already started working on my New Year’s resolutions. I don’t usually do these, but I’m tired of the status quo, and I really want to make some life changes in the coming year. None are really Earth shattering, but my hope is that by writing them down, I can revisit them throughout the year and by doing so maybe I’ll stick to them better. I’m planning on posting them on here. Another tactic of mine to try to stick to them! I figure if I put them out there for the whole world to read, I’ll feel more obligated to follow through so I don’t look like a putz!

One of my resolutions is to do a 2 week detox. I honestly just feel like crap! Between all the stress of adopting and the holidays, not to mention all the wonderfully yummy but terribly bad-for-me food I’ve been eating, I am no where near my best. I’m not overweight or anything, but I know I could be healthier. So I figure that a good place to start is to clean out all the junk in my body. My diet is going to be pretty restricted for two weeks so I’ve been searching the web trying to find some recipes to help my journey to not too miserable. But I’ve found bupkis! I’ve only managed to find a couple of recipes that were not very original, nor did they sound appetizing. So I’m going to be blogging about my detox, and posting my own detox recipes. More on that to come.

So lots going on in the new year. I’m really excited, and I hope you all have a very happy new year!
