Chocolate Crescent Rolls? Easiest dessert ever!

Crescent Chocolate Dessert Rolls recipe So tonight after dinner, I had a serious craving for something sweet and chocolatey. But with no ready-made goodies on hand, I had to get my creative juices flowing.

I try to keep my pantry stocked with ingredients for chocolate chip cookies at all times. But I wasn’t in the mood to go into full blown cookie mode. I thought about chocolate pudding, and I even found a good looking recipe on the foodnetwork’s website, but it would take a while to set up and cool in the fridge.

That’s when I remembered the can of crescent rolls I had stashed in the fridge. Now some of you may be kind of skeptical about any dessert coming from a roll of refrigerated dough, but as any self respecting Pampered Chef gadget owner knows, you can do miracles with crescent rolls. So with two simple ingredients I created a quick dessert that had my husband saying, “Whoa! These are actually REALLY good!” and my son describing them as “really awesome.”

Ingredients:
Refrigerated crescent rolls (I used the “Big and Flaky” ones.)
Chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate, but I think semisweet would have been even better!)

Directions:
Seperate dough into the perferated triangles. Sprinkle about 2 Tablespoons (I totally eyeballed this) on the large end of the triangle and roll as usually. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for baking. (Mine were 15 minutes at 350 degrees) After the rolls have baked, set them aside. In a small bowl, melt about 1/4 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds. (It should only take about 1 minute to melt them. Be sure to stir or they will burn!) Using a fork, drizzle the melted chocolate onto the warm rolls. Cool for about a minute (if you can wait them long), then serve warm. Would be great paired with vanilla ice cream, or enjoying like us with a nice, cold glass of milk.

That’s it. In less than 20 minutes you can have a delicious dessert that your family is sure to enjoy! Next time you have a craving for something sweet, give this a try.

**If you don’t care for chocolate (which I cannot fathom!), substitute your favorite fruit preserves instead. Apricots are especially delicious, and sprinkle the rolls with sugar before baking.
